On June 10 2024, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, constituted the NBA Anti-Money Laundering Committee (NBAAMLC) under Rule 73 of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners (RPC) 2023 – https://blog.nigerianbar.org.ng/2024/06/10/nba-anti-money-laundering-committee-constitution/
The NBAAMLC will, among other responsibilities, advise the NBA on implementing Chapter 2 of the RPC (Guidelines and Rules on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism for Legal Practitioners) and monitor compliance with its provisions.
